I’ve been online since 1982 with a proper email address on both the internet and Bitnet. Thanks to a connection offered by DELPHI in Viareggio (LU) to the Computer Science department in Pisa, I began my media career. I frequently worked with Japanese and other European universities, and the internet proved invaluable for collaborating on shared projects.
After university, I contributed to developing the IUnet idea starting in 1986. IUnet became Italy’s first business internet service provider, initially similar to FUnet in Finland.
Well-known as the Italian Unix User Association, I was a member of Uniforum. A few years later, in 1994, a part of the management left IUnet to establish IT.net in Genoa. Later, IUnet was acquired by Olivetti Telemedia, now Infostrada.
Related to the software that made the internet great, I contributed to developing the initial NCSA httpd server (the ancestor of Apache) and the Mosaic browser version. I also participated in the Linux project. As an i2u member, I invited Linus Torvalds to Finland in 1995 during one of his early exits from the country. In 1993/94, I ported many Internet utilities like elm, pine, Archie, FTP, Gopher, Wais, and so on, to Bull operating systems (System V3.1). I also ported various TCP/IP and ISO stacks to different open operating systems. Throughout the 1990s, I participated in many internet newsgroups and published some articles myself.

My website has been online since 1994. Initially, it used his proper NCSA http server port over Bull Open System and later Linux Slackware. Since then I’ve travelled the world explaining this media’s possibilities to both the general public and executives. One of my first presentations was in London, UK, in 1995 and here’s the brochure:

Projects from that era are available here.
In the 90s, I developed several applications for PalmOS and other handheld devices to allow executives to benefit from the lightness of new technology.
With the rise of Web 2.0 and the global mobile trend, I strengthened my collaboration with GSMA on mobile topics and launched several online forums and containers.
